Behind the Name
Pasquaniel
Pasquaniel isn’t a name you hear every day. It’s not in any baby book, and it definitely wasn’t trending anywhere.
My dad, inspired by a character from the 1978 Western miniseries Centennial, heard the name, loved it, added some Spanish flavor, and the rest is history.
It started as a unique name I was embarrassed by as a kid, but over the years it became something I grew into.
What surprised me later was the root behind it. Pasqu- connects to names like Pasquale and Pascal, pointing all the way back to the Latin Pascha—Passover. The language of being brought out. Of crossing over. Of redemption.
That meaning fits my story more than I ever could have planned. Christ pulled me out of who I was and brought me into something new. So the name isn’t just different now. It’s a reminder of grace.
Some names are given. Others you grow into.
Pasquaniel — different, unexpected, and marked by redemption.
